Meet the Ministers
Our settled minister is the Rev. Richard Trudeau
(rjtrudeau@verizon.net), who
has been with us since 1995.
Richard does about two-thirds of our Sunday services, most of
the pastoral visiting, and officiates at weddings, child dedications,
memorial services, and funerals for members and friends of the church.
Richard has a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School, and is
in Full Final Fellowship with the Unitarian Universalist Association.
Humanists who talk to Richard can come away thinking he's a
fellow Humanist. Christians can come away thinking he's a Christian.
Theologically he's not either of those, exactly, but he understands and
feels considerable sympathy for both points of view, and for others as
well. His own religious perspective has been strongly influence by not
only Humanism and Christianity, but also Judaism, Taoism, and the study
of nature.
Before becoming a minister Richard was a college professor,
teaching mathematics and the history of astronomy, and even after
becoming a minister he continued to hold down a college teaching job
through 2005.
Apart from ministerial work, Richard is happiest when he is
drifting in his kayak in Massachusetts Bay or walking in the woods with
his wife, Susan.
Our community minister is the Rev. Barbara Dingwall
Mills (revbdmills@comcast.net).
Barbara officiates at weddings, child dedications, memorial
services, and funerals for the community at large.
As a lifelong member of the church and resident of Weymouth,
Barbara is uniquely qualified to answer the needs of the community.
