OPENING THURSDAY 5 JUNI, 7pm - 12pm
On 5 June the Göteborg Konsthall opens the doors to Tomorrow Always Belongs to Us, an exhibition with some of the most exciting painting by young artists in the Nordic countries today.
The exhibition presents eleven artists from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and comprises a large selection of new work often with strong local affiliation. The focus is on painting, but the artists taking part work within a range of different media.
Tomorrow Always Belongs to Us offers everything from painting on canvas and paper to installations, performance and hi-tech art. The range is equally wide when it comes to content – anything from global overviews to family albums and private narrative worlds, from art historical allusions to violent outpourings and the rich flow of digital colour.
This exhibition is a sequel to the noted exhibition Painting, Space & Society shown at the Göteborg Konsthall in summer 2007. A publication covering both projects will be issued in October 2008.
The collective title for the whole project is A Good Idea, the idea being to focus on the potential offered by contemporary art to serve as a method for inspiring fresh thinking and a sharing of experiences. The aim of the project is not to look back on past times or to attempt to predict the future for this particular medium; instead the ambition is that these two closely related exhibitions will permit each separate work to stand forth and challenge our sensory impressions and our perceptions of the society we live in.

ARTIST TALK, OPENING & CONCERT, 5 JUNE
5:30pm - 7pm - Tell It Like It Is. Contemporay painting in the Nordic countries today. Artist talk with some of the partcipating artists. Location: The Auditorium (Hörsalen), Göteborgs Stadsbibliotek, Götaplatsen. Moderator: Cecilia Widenheim, new director of IASPIS. Language: English.
7pm - 12pm - Opening. The evening starts with The Kid Below - a new performance by Anastasia Ax (in collaboration with the musician Bill Kouligas). At 8pm we open the doors to the garden behind Göteborgs Konsthall. Together with the music organizer Koloni we present the bands Thee Oh Sees from California, Ectoplasm Girls from Stockholm and Moby Dictator, which is the alias of the finnish artist Tuomas Laitinen.
